Job summary

Viceroy Hotels in Washington DC is seeking a Steward/Potwasher/Warewasher to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and support food storage and safety standards.

You will assist with heavy cleaning, operate dishwashing equipment, and help set up service areas while upholding the hotel's sanitation policies.

This role requires flexibility, stamina, and the ability to work long or unusual hours in a fast-paced luxury property.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; hotel experience preferred.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Heavy work – lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently.
• Ability to stand during shift.
• Ability to withstand hot and cold temperatures.
• Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
• Effective communication with all employees and guests.
• Attend hotel meetings and trainings.
• Maintain regular attendance per hotel standards.
• Uniform and nametag required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high cleanliness and order in kitchens, back dock, and utility areas.
• Heavy cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, and walk-in coolers.
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
• Sweep and mop floors in food and beverage areas and docks.
• Monitor inventory and report equipment shortages.
• Operate dishwashing equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
• Return cleaned china, glass, and silver to proper storage.
• Handle chemicals safely and report faulty equipment.
