Job summary

Viceroy Washington DC is hiring a Steward/Potwasher/Warewasher to uphold cleanliness and proper storage of china, glass, and silver, and to support kitchen staff with sanitation and storage. You will handle heavy cleaning, assist with food storage and rotation, and help with buffet setup and banquet support.

The role requires standing for long shifts, ability to lift heavy loads, good communication, and a flexible schedule. Benefits are provided according to hotel standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, etc.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Ability to withstand temperature variations, both hot and cold.
• Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and guests.
• Must multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility areas.
• Heavy cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils; vacuum carpeted areas in food and beverage outlets.
• Sweep, mop and wash floors in kitchen, dining, and dock areas.
• Operate dishwashing equipment to ensure proper sanitation of china, glass, and silver.
• Return cleaned items to proper storage locations to minimize breakage.
• Follow safe handling techniques for chemicals and report faulty equipment.
• Assist in setup/breakdown of restaurant buffet and banquets as needed.
