Job Description
Work Schedule: Varies with facility needs. Some positions are full-time, others are part-time.
Breaks: Two breaks and one ½ hour lunch.
Overtime: As required.
Machines and Tools Used: Commercial convection ovens, steamers, steam kettle, fryers, food processors, blenders, hand mixers, stand mixers, gas range, grills (flat top, charbroil), “Salamander” broiler, dishwashing machine, ice machine, deli slicer, vacuum cleaner, kitchen utensils, various containers, pans, pots, mops, brooms, cleaning items, utility carts, pushcarts, speed rack, step stools, chef coats, non-slip shoes, hair nets, chef pants, cutting gloves, oven mitts, food handling gloves.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Basic computer experience.
Work takes place in various locations within a hotel restaurant kitchen, with level surfaces, antislip mats, good lighting, and air conditioning. Exposure to high and low temperatures is possible when near freezers, ovens, and grills.
The Cook ensures the restaurant maintains its reputation for quality food. Responsibilities include measuring, mixing, and cooking ingredients per recipes, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining cleanliness.
