Job summary

Birch Lake Eye Clinic in White Bear Lake, MN is seeking an Optician who will provide eyewear solutions and excellent patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames, ensure proper measurements, and dispense lenses with accuracy.

You’ll work closely with technicians and doctors, maintain up-to-date product knowledge, and explain insurance benefits. Strong communication, customer service, and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting eyewear and accessories that fit their prescription, lifestyle and personal style.
• Take and dispense measurements to ensure proper frame fit and lens accuracy.
• Enter all prescription information into the EHR and ALE system and maintain patient charts.
• Explain insurance benefits and answer patient questions regarding products and costs.
• Coordinate with technicians and doctors on order status and fulfillment.
