Job summary

VSP Vision in Sarasota is seeking a part-time Optical Assistant to support patients of Optical Outlets and assist the Doctor and Office Manager. You will greet customers, explain the process, help with eyewear selection, fitting frames, and dispensing lenses with care.

This role requires 1–2 years of related experience, basic MS Office knowledge, and strong verbal and written communication. It offers a friendly, fast-paced environment with opportunities to grow as an eye care professional;

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize tasks and inquiries.
• Effective written communication skills to document customer situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to identify customer needs with relevant questions.
• Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide unsurpassed customer service to attract and retain customers.
• Greet customers and explain the process in a transparent way.
• Assist patients with merchandise selection, fitting frames, and dispensing eyewear.
• Solve visual problems or challenges for customers.
• Manage customer transactions at the time of purchase.
• Serve as a center of excellence with a focus on first-time accuracy and patient satisfaction.
• Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses suited to vision, lifestyle, and budget.
• Assist other retail associates with complex product needs and prescriptions.
• Take and record measurements, adjust or fit eyewear precisely.
• Inform Office Manager of any office problems noted by staff, doctors, or patients.
• Perform all tasks assigned by Office Manager.
