Job summary

McFarland Clinic is seeking a Sales Associate/Optician for its South Ames office. The role involves repairing, adjusting, and dispensing prescription lenses and frames, and taking measurements to aid lens design.

The candidate will help patients select eyewear and ensure accurate insurance documentation. Responsibilities include measuring and fitting eyewear, handling daily sales and deposits, and collaborating with MDs/ODs to deliver extraordinary care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required or equivalent.
• ABO certification preferred, not required.
• Two years of optical industry experience preferred, but not required.
• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Repair, adjust and dispense prescription lenses and frames.
• Measure and fit all eyewear; take measurements for lens design support.
• Assist patients in lens design decisions based on measurements.
• File paperwork to insurance and manage daily sales and receipts.
• Prepare bank deposits and coordinate with MDs/ODs to ensure correct eyewear is provided to patients.
