Job summary

AEG Vision seeks an Optometric Technician to support doctors and patients, conducting pre‑testing procedures, assisting with diagnostic testing, and managing the doctor’s schedule for efficient, high‑quality care.

The role requires evaluating patients prior to exams, documenting findings in EHR, and maintaining HIPAA compliance; strong teamwork and communication are essential to success.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally collaborate with co‑workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, diagnostic follow-ups, and other referrals.
• Records and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems.
