The role emphasizes integrative optometric care with modern surgical technology, requiring an active NM NP license and a minimum of 2 years NP experience.

Qualifications

• Active unrestricted NP license in the State of New Mexico.
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one in NM.
• MSN or Doctor of Nursing Practice from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years NP experience; ophthalmology or integrative medicine preferred.
• Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity testing and refraction.
• Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions including dry eye, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
• Co-manage pre and post operative care for cataract surgery and LASIK.
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when needed.
• Maintain complete and timely clinical documentation in the EHR system.
• Stay current with evidence-based optometry and nursing practices.
