Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience. You will prepare patients for onsite and remote exams, run pre-exam tests, document results in EMR, explain steps to patients, and coordinate with doctors and staff for smooth transitions.

The role requires at least 1 year of related experience, an optical/healthcare background preferred, and strong customer service with HIPAA awareness.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather/submit pertinent patient information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; document results in EMR.
• Explain preliminary testing steps to patients and perform/record tests.
• Assist remote eye exams including pre-testing, remote conferencing, and documentation.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs and coordinate appointment scheduling.
• Maintain patient flow and accurate patient records as per company standards.
• Instruct patients on contact lens insertion, care and handling; manage lens orders.
