Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Software Developer, Advisor to join the Health, State and Local sector to support the Medicare Fee-For-Service claims processing system. You will be a principal technical contributor on an Agile team, providing maintenance and operations support for the DME contract.

As an Advisor, you will lead design and development across multiple functional areas, mentor developers, and ensure high-quality, well-tested code. Strong mainframe, DevOps, and SAFe experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education/experience as listed: BS/BA with 8+ years, or MS with 6 years, or HS diploma with 12 years.
  • 8+ years of mainframe development experience in production or maintenance.
  • Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
  • Knowledge of health care claims processing, Medicare FFS.
  • Experience as a senior/principal developer in a mainframe environment.
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM and DevOps tooling.
  • Ability to estimate and decompose requirements; strong communication.
  • Experience with Medicare Part A/B/DME or CMS programs; US Citizenship; Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and mentor developers; support knowledge transfer and team growth.
  • Represent the team in client-facing technical discussions; communicate clearly.
  • Provide realistic time/resource estimates to ensure sprint predictability.
  • Troubleshoot problems independently and deliver effective solutions.

In this role, youwillserveas a principal technicalcontributor onanAgile teamproviding maintenance and operations support for theMedicareDurable MedicalEquipment (DME) contract.

As aSoftware Development, Advisor, you will help plan, direct, and coordinate software development across multiple functional areasof the DME system.This rolewilloperatein a highly structured, rigorous development environment, spanninghigh-level technical design,hands-on coding, unit testing, and defect resolution.At this level,the candidate isexpected to exercise a high degree of independent judgement, serve as a technical authority within the team, and provide leadership and mentorship to developers at all levels.

The Advisorwill design, develop, and enhance core software programs while adhering to strict coding standards. Quality is vital to this mission,thisrole mustbuild and execute your own unit test plans, test cases, and test data.Additionally, the Advisor roleis responsible forinstalling changes into internal testing regions,troubleshootingandresolvingdefects,and keeping technicaldocumentationcurrent.

Qualifications

  • 8+years of mainframe development experiencein production or maintenanceenvironment.
  • Advancedproficiencywith mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
  • Knowledge of health care claims processing, particularly Medicare FeeForService.
  • Abilityto perform well in a highly rigorous, structureddevelopment environment.
  • Demonstratedexperience as asenior or principalsoftware developer in a mainframe environment.
  • Demonstratedability todetermineand decompose businessand technicalrequirements.
  • Application lifecyclemethodologyexperience,specifically Agile/SCRUM.
  • Strong communicationskills and technical writingability, including client-facingcommunication.
  • Ability to develop application project solutions andprovideaccurateestimates.
  • Experience withMedicare Part A, Medicare Part B,DMEor Medicare Common Working File (CWF) specific processing systems.
  • Experience working withor in support ofCMSprograms or contracts.
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOpstools and frameworks through plan, define, build, test, release and deploy processes.
  • SAFeexperience and/or certification.
  • Must be able to achieveandmaintainaPublicTrust clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Experience withAssemblerlanguage in a mainframe environment.
  • Familiarity with development and collaboration tools:GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Eclipse (IDz/RDz).
  • Exposure to modern languages such asJava or Python.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
