Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage seeks an External Affairs & Marketing Coordinator for the Port of Alaska to lead stakeholder communications, public information coordination, and marketing support for port modernization initiatives, reporting to the Deputy Director.

The role develops materials, coordinates inter-agency and tenant communications, ensures messaging consistency, and supports regulatory reporting, events, and inquiries for tenants, government partners, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with six years of position-specific experience.
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar with four years of position-specific experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar with two years of position-specific experience.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar with related experience.
  • Background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

  • The position works collaboratively with Port divisions to gather information, prepare reports, and distribute communication materials to tenants, government partners, and community stakeholders.

Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range.

Example of Duties

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of experience specific to the position.
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and four (4) years of experience specific to the position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and two (2) years of experience specific to the position.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and experience specific to the position.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.

Military Service Interview Preference

Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the person as a veteran.
