Job summary

Magna Exteriors is seeking a senior engineer to shape exterior systems from concept to validated hardware. You will partner with the design team to refine DfMA concepts, manage DVP&R updates, and coordinate with suppliers for prototype materials on the plant floor.

You will drive DFMEA and VA/VE studies, mentor cross-functional teams, and support pre-production to production builds while ensuring compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline or Technical field.
• 4–9 years of experience, including direct customer/supplier interactions, new product launches, gated launch frameworks, and Automotive OEM collaboration.
• Strong communication skills with proven negotiation and public speaking experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to travel up to 25% during peak launch cycles.
• Comfort working on the manufacturing floor for extended periods and at customer sites as needed; able to occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering research, design, and development from concept through validated system.
• Serve as SME on customer specifications and drive team to meet release targets.
• Drive DfMA principles to improve manufacturing simplicity, safety, cost, and assembly.
• Initiate and shepherd Change Requests/Notices (CR/CN) via Magna Change X; track for rapid closure.
• Scope, plan, and direct technical work across product, process, tooling, and materials.
• Analyze complex design problems; lead 8D investigations, DOE, and DFSS tool use.
