Job summary

Magna Exteriors in Troy, NY is seeking an Integrated Lighting Systems Engineer to develop advanced exterior lighting concepts and integrate optical, electrical, and software elements into robust lighting solutions for automotive applications.

You will translate customer requirements into system specs, lead requirement cascades to multi-disciplinary teams, and participate in design reviews and validation activities to support cost, schedule and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5–10 years engineering experience in automotive or embedded systems.
• Fluent English; German language skills are a plus.
• Experience with system engineering and requirements management.
• ISO 26262 and ASPICE familiarity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the system definition and integration of exterior lighting features with emphasis on accent lighting and brand-differentiating lighting functions.
• Translate customer requirements into clear system specifications and functional requirements.
• Define and execute the Statement of Work / Statement of Requirements for integrated lighting systems and sub-systems.
• Cascade requirements to optical, electrical, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure a complete system solution.
• Develop and analyze system models, simulations, prototypes, and validation plans for lighting performance and durability.
