Job summary

General Motors' Warren Tech Center in Michigan is seeking a Design Release Engineer for exterior BGFT subsystems. This hybrid role requires on-site presence at least three days per week and collaboration across design, purchasing, manufacturing, validation, and quality teams to deliver exterior components on time and with quality.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Engineering and 2+ years in release engineering or related vehicle development, plus strong communication and program management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a design release engineer or in vehicle development.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience executing vehicle development cycles from concept to production launch.
• Proven program management abilities and analytical thinking.
• Physics-based problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design Release Engineer for exterior BGFT components (Bumper, Grille, Fascia, Trim).
• Support or lead cross-functional Product Development Teams (PDT).
• Ensure on-time delivery of in-house designs with quality to meet milestones.
• Design and package BGFT and directed-buy components (sensors, cameras, harnesses, lamps).
• Develop criteria using Unigraphics data and collaborate on surface development.
• Balance subsystem cost, timing, mass, and warranty; support design reviews.
• Create Interface Control Documents (ICD) and liaise with interfacing components.
• Assist launch efforts with plants and cross-functional personnel.
