Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Design Release Engineer for Customer Controls in Warren, MI. You will lead design release for switch assemblies, coordinate with internal teams and suppliers, and drive issues to resolution to ensure timely production.

The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, hands-on vehicle experience, and a proactive, cross-functional mindset with DFMEA and validation responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with GM, suppliers, and program teams.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple activities; hands-on vehicle experience.
• Proven problem-solving and self-motivation to drive design releases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design package concepts for customer controls.
• Initiate and conduct DFMEA; prepare and track Engineering Change Orders for release documents.
• Develop design alternatives and present them to management for decision.
• Develop and track validation test plans; manage change requests and issue tracking.
