Job summary

General Motors Defense invites a Design Release Engineer to drive the design and release of body, interior, and survivability subsystems for current and future GM Defense work. You will coach suppliers to timely, high-quality deliverables and apply program management to meet milestones.

You will lead engineering efforts, apply GD&T, and collaborate across teams to solve complex issues, with the potential for U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 3+ years in vehicle design.
• 5+ years in an engineering discipline; knowledge of high/low volume suppliers.
• Understanding of GD&T principles and build-process troubleshooting.
• Strong collaboration across internal and external teams; cross-functional work.
• Experience managing OEMs or suppliers to tight timelines.
• Experience presenting to diverse audiences.
• Willing to work at MPG Milford, MI; eligible for Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced research.
• Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and procedures.
• Lead and coach suppliers to timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Provide expert judgment for design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.
