Job summary

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) seeks a clerical coding professional to support the Expungement Unit in maintaining the state criminal history repository. You will research, enter, update, and correct arrest, judicial, and custody information.

Responsibilities include processing expungements, sealing arrest data in the CCH, III, and AFIS, and coordinating with courts and outside agencies to ensure accurate records and compliance with statutes.

Qualifications

• High school graduate; clerical experience or education may substitute requirements.
• Must complete NCIC Full Function Certification within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties requiring good judgement and discretion in handling arrest, judicial, and custody information.
• Must understand coding techniques and perform clerical duties.
• Must respond to telephone calls from the public and other agencies in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized coding duties to assist the Expungement Unit in maintaining the state criminal history repository.
• Review, research, and process criminal history modifications, expungements, and pardons; enter disposition reports.
• Seal arrest information in the state criminal history repository, III, and AFIS per court-ordered expungements and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Coordinate with outside agencies (State Court Administration, law enforcement, and courts) to make corrections to the criminal history repository.
• Maintain up-to-date research and coding procedures to ensure accurate records with proper documentation.
• Perform other duties as necessary and assist other departments.
