This position is hybrid (3 days onsite/2 days WFH) at RTP, NC.

Position Overview:

The "Export Logistics Specialist" prepares export orders and related shipping documentation for the assigned regional international territory within the International Customer Service group. Knowledge of U.S. government laws & regulations and compliance is essential to ensure shipment documentation accuracy. The specialist should understand the business context of assignments and be proactive in identifying potential issues. Independent decision-making within a well-defined scope is required. The role demands detail orientation, professionalism in dealings with internal and external contacts, and flexibility to participate in meetings across different time zones, balancing daily order processing with scheduled meetings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Prepare export orders and shipping documentation, and support colleagues during absences.
  2. Stay informed of foreign export/import regulations to ensure timely customs clearance.
  3. Coordinate with freight forwarders, airlines, and shipping companies to optimize transportation costs and schedules.
  4. Handle urgent customer requests, including lifesaving shipments, expediting orders as needed.
  5. Prepare proforma invoices for international customers, considering various pricing categories.
  6. Prioritize and process standard and hazardous shipments, ensuring compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  7. Estimate freight costs for bids and quotations.
  8. Communicate with foreign consulates for document legalization.
  9. Inform customers about product specifications, shipping, order status, and claims.
  10. Develop contingency plans for unusual situations.
  11. Coordinate special product labeling to meet foreign requirements.
  12. Advise sales managers on shipment delays and resolve related issues.
  13. Collaborate with other departments to prevent shipment delays and ensure service quality.
  14. Maintain country-specific shipping manuals and update related documentation.
  15. Audit freight invoices based on negotiated rates.
  16. Engage with ex-U.S. customers regarding forecasts, product availability, and orders.
  17. Participate in training and seminars on export compliance.
Skills/Qualifications/Education:
  • B.S. or B.A. degree.
  • 2 years of experience in customer service/export shipping or 7-10 years of relevant business experience.
  • Proficiency with automated customer service and sales systems, including databases.
  • Knowledge of US Customs and Department of Commerce export laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a marketing and sales environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Office setting with exposure to electrical equipment. Sitting for 6-8 hours, occasional walking, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Travel within the U.S. may be required. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with diverse groups.
