Job summary

Powerus is seeking an Export Control Manager to own the company’s export compliance program across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and business development. The role supports Empowered Official duties and ensures proper jurisdiction, classification, and licensing under ITAR/EAR.

You will maintain DDTC registration, handle EEI filings, and lead deemed-export controls while delivering targeted training and conducting internal audits to address any gaps.

Position Overview

Powerus is seeking an Export Control Manager to own the company's export compliance program across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and business development, and to serve as or directly support the Empowered Official.

Key Responsibilities

• Make and document jurisdiction and classification determinations against the USML and CCL, including ECCN assignment
• Prepare, submit, and manage DDTC and BIS license applications
• Draft and administer Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, and related authorizations
• Maintain DDTC registration, EEI/AES filings, and license and agreement records
• Own the technology control plan, including physical and IT access controls and marking of controlled technical data
• Run deemed-export controls for employees, contractors, and visitors
• Operate restricted-party screening across customers, suppliers, partners, and visitors
• Deliver export control training to engineering, program, and business development staff
• Conduct internal audits, drive corrective actions, and prepare voluntary self-disclosures when required

Qualifications

• Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Rock Hill, SC
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience in export or trade compliance
• Experience administering an export control program under the ITAR and EAR, including classification and license or agreement preparation
• Working knowledge of the USML, CCL and ECCN structure, license exceptions and exemptions, and recordkeeping requirements
• Experience with restricted-party screening, deemed-export controls, or technology control plans
• Eligibility to serve as an Empowered Official under 22 C.F.R. 120.67
• U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving as an Empowered Official
• Experience in unmanned systems, aerospace, or defense manufacturing
• Experience with commodity jurisdiction requests and voluntary self-disclosures
• Familiarity with DFARS, CUI, NIST SP 800-171, and NDAA Section 848 sourcing requirements
• Experience with export compliance after acquisitions
• CUSECO, CES, or ECoP certification
• Active or prior U.S. security clearance
