Job summary

The University of California, Merced seeks an Export Control Officer/Research Security Officer to design and lead our campus export control and research security program. You will interpret federal laws, develop training materials, and coordinate licensing activities.

This role reports to the Executive Director of Research Compliance and Integrity and offers a fully hybrid work arrangement, with campus reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Five years in a research compliance function or equivalent experience in academia.

Responsibilities

• Lead export control compliance program, licensing, and recordkeeping.
• Develop and deliver specialized export control training for campus audiences.
• Review proposals, contracts, and licenses for export control applicability.
• Coordinate ITAR license submissions and ensure documentation retention.
• Provide guidance on DURC regulations and ICDUR with campus partners.
