Position Overview: As an Experienced Technical Artist, you will bridge the gap between art and technology, ensuring our games achieve high visual quality while maintaining optimal performance. You will collaborate with artists, designers, and engineers to create efficient pipelines, tools, and shaders, enhancing the artistic vision and gameplay experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with artists and developers to address technical challenges in art content pipelines.
  2. Develop and implement shaders, tools, and scripts to improve productivity and workflows.
  3. Perform engine profiling to identify and communicate optimization opportunities.
  4. Test and validate assets for technical quality and performance standards.
  5. Research, prototype, and iterate on new ideas and technologies for art content.
  6. Document processes, create tutorials, and share knowledge across the team.
  7. Define and support content budgeting and technical guidelines for project efficiency.

Qualifications:

Core Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and ability to give constructive feedback.
  • Understanding of art and animation pipelines.
  • Experience with engine profiling and optimization techniques.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient in Python; knowledge of C++/C#/Blueprints is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with version control systems.
  • Managing art content memory and performance budgets.
  • Creating custom tools and scripts to streamline workflows.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools like Blender, 3DS Max, or Maya.
  • Shader development knowledge.
  • Ability to learn new programming languages, tools, and systems quickly.
  • Ability to review and provide feedback on other Technical Artists’ code.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience creating procedural Houdini tools.
  • Knowledge of Substance Designer/Painter.
  • Ability to develop tools for batch processing repetitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of texture compression techniques.
  • Experience with art content creation and core art fundamentals.
