Job summary

United Security & Communications, Inc. in the Washington DC–Baltimore area is seeking an Experienced Service Technician – Electronic Security to install, maintain, and repair access control, IP video, intercom, intrusion, and related hardware.

You will diagnose issues, perform field service visits, document activities, and work with project managers and other technicians to deliver high-quality service. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally are required.

Qualifications

• General maintenance including preventive maintenance and documentation.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications preferred.

Role Description

This full-time, on-site Experienced Service Technician – Electronic Security role is based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area. The technician will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic security systems, including access control, IP video, intercom, intrusion, and related hardware. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, executing troubleshooting procedures, completing field service visits, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance. The role involves interacting with customers on-site, explaining findings and solutions, documenting service activities, and collaborating with project managers and other technicians to deliver timely, high-quality service. The technician will follow safety standards, company procedures, and manufacturer guidelines while keeping current with new security technologies and products.

Qualifications

• Strong Maintenance & Repair skills with experience servicing electronic security systems and related equipment.
• Proficient Troubleshooting abilities for diagnosing and resolving technical issues in complex integrated systems.
• Field Service experience, including on-site visits, system commissioning, and working in commercial client environments.
• Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and provide professional support.
• General Maintenance capabilities, including preventive maintenance, inspections, and documentation of service work.
• Experience with access control, IP video surveillance, intrusion alarms, and related low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and system schematics.
• Comfort working with hand tools, test equipment, and networked devices in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Washington DC–Baltimore metro area.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in electronic security or low-voltage systems are preferred.

Position: Full-Time

Pay: $25–$40/hour, based on experience
