Job summary

Precision Drilling Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled Rig Electrician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems on land-based drilling rigs. The role requires hands-on experience with SCR units, VFDs, PLCs, and a proactive safety mindset.

You will work closely with rig crews on a 2-week on / 2-week off schedule, diagnose electrical issues, manage parts, document inspections, and support 24/7 breakdown responses to keep operations safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of diagnostic, repair, and overhaul experience on drilling equipment.
• High school diploma or trade certification required.
• Strong troubleshooting of hydraulic systems and ability to read schematics.
• Proficiency with SAP maintenance reporting and MS Office.
• Experience with Amphion Drilling Controls, SBCs, and generator controls; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems on land rigs (SCR, VFD, PLC).
• Diagnose and repair electrical components like breakers, panels, lighting, junction boxes.
• Test circuits, manage spare parts, document inspections and repairs.
• Collaborate with rig crews, Electrical Foreman, and contractors for safety and reliability.
• Provide 24/7 support for equipment breakdowns and adhere to safety standards.
