Job summary

Sheeley LLP in New Jersey is seeking a skilled Paralegal to join our dynamic team. This hands-on role supports attorneys and staff by handling essential legal and administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include drafting and filing documents, managing case files, researching legal issues, handling HIPAA authorizations, coordinating with clients, experts, and courts, and assisting with trial preparation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years of paralegal experience in a New Jersey law firm or legal department.
• Strong understanding of court procedures and legal terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal management software (e.g., Centerbase, Clio, or similar).
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and contracts.
• Manage case files and ensure accurate document organization, retrieval, and archiving.
• Conduct legal and factual research to support active matters.
• Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
• Coordinate and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and other case evidence.
• Receipt and Review of Medical Authorizations (HIPAA) for accuracy and completeness.
• Preparation of Letters to Request Medical Records from Medical Providers and use of Third Party medical records retrieval services.
• Creating a Log of all Authorizations and Records requested.
• Liaise with clients, experts, and courts on behalf of attorneys.
• Support attorneys with trial preparation and administrative tasks as needed.
