Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking an Experienced RN - Operating Room to join our dedicated OR team in Akron. You will scrub and circulate through service lines, interact with patients and families, and contribute to a high-quality patient experience during all phases of care.

Expect a six-month orientation, days with on-call, and a schedule of 9:00am-9:30pm with potential early start times. Current RN license and BLS required; BSN preferred for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Successfully complete mandatory clinical competencies annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.
• Assessments: complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
• Planning: develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate.
• Implementation: provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication and document.
• Evaluation: participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
• Leadership/professional development: delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person/role model/mentor, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
• Department specific duties: plan for patient care utilizing both patient specific information and preference sheets, assist in collecting and preparing equipment, instruments, sutures and implants, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, act as a patient advocate, identify patients and confirm that surgical site identification has been performed without discrepancy, timely respond to on-call pages, maintain the room schedule and ensure surgical specimens are handled correctly by accurate identification.
