Experienced Intake / Verification Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated benefit verification and authorization expert to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, in-depth knowledge of collection practices, and compliance with federal and state regulations related to benefit verification and authorization activities.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3-5 years of healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Home Infusion and Intrathecal Pain Management is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of patient insurance eligibility and benefits processes for payers such as Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Humana, Worker’s Comp, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Understanding of authorization processes including GAPs, pre-determinations, PCP referrals, and single case agreements.
  • Accurate data entry of insurance and authorization information into EHR systems following SOPs.
  • Follow-up on pending or expired authorizations and referrals.
  • Review and appeal authorization denials as needed.
  • Document all calls and interactions per SOPs.
  • Timely response to quality reviews and follow-ups.
  • Respect patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality in all interactions, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Understanding of NDC numbers, infusion supplies, and medical billing procedures.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of insurance plans, medical terminology, and codes.
  • Share knowledge with team members and collaborate effectively.
  • Interact positively and respectfully with colleagues and patients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Good judgment in complex situations, with knowledge of laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with relationship-building ability.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and credibility.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and reliable.
  • Ability to handle multiple variables and problems systematically.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
