Experienced Intake / Verification Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated benefit verification and authorization specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, in-depth knowledge of collection practices, and a strong understanding of compliance with federal and state regulations related to benefit verification and authorization.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Home Infusion and Intrathecal Pain Management is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of patient insurance eligibility and benefits processes across various payers, including Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Humana, Worker’s Comp, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Understanding of authorization processes such as GAPs, pre-determinations, PCP referrals, and single case agreements.
  • Accurate data entry into EHR systems following standard procedures.
  • Follow-up on pending or expired authorizations and referrals.
  • Review and appeal authorization denials as needed.
  • Document all calls and interactions per departmental SOPs.
  • Ensure timely responses to quality reviews.
  • Respect patient rights and confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of NDC numbers, infusion supplies, and medical billing procedures.
  • Share knowledge with team members and collaborate effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
