Job Description

Ingram Barge Company is looking to bring experienced deckhands on board for our Line haul/Fleet operations.

Note: Must have Towboat Experience. Please see videos below!

You may be assigned to any river segment or vessel type based on Company needs at the time of your hire. As an Ingram associate, you will be responsible for your own transportation to and from your hitches.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assisting deck crew in tow building (laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping and shoveling barges)
  2. Daily vessel housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, cleaning crew quarters)
  3. Assisting with locking procedures
  4. Carrying rigging (ratchets, wires, straps), pumps, hoses, and lines
  5. Working outdoors in various weather conditions
  6. Checking barges for water and leaks, including climbing into confined spaces
  7. Maintaining vessel appearance (washing, chipping, painting)
  8. Assisting the Engineer as needed
  9. Practicing safe crew, vessel, and tow operations using Ingram safety systems
  10. Participating in safety drills and audits
  11. Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Demonstration of the Ingram Way
  • High safety standards adherence
  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods (14, 21, or 28 days)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to unexpected situations
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Teamwork and acceptance of diversity
  • Ability to read/write English per USCG regulations
  • Valid TWIC card
  • Pass background check, drug screen, and physical
  • Ability to lift up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
