Responsibilities
  • Assist with the safe loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Inspect and report safety conditions affecting team members or cargo.
  • Handle rigging during barge tow building, locking, and docking activities.
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and supplies.
  • Examine and maintain cables, wires, and lines.
  • Secure barges using tow wires and cables safely and environmentally.
  • Perform basic vessel maintenance such as painting, cleaning, oil and filter changes.
  • Demonstrate integrity, teamwork, responsibility, agility, and customer focus.
  • Contribute positively as a crew member.
Qualifications

You will need to have:

  • Minimum of 1 year of deckhand experience, preferably on inland rivers.
  • Ability to work 28 days onboard with 28/14 days off, and flexibility for overtime.
  • Reliable transportation to vessel ports.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Must be 18+, complete a health questionnaire, and pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Physical fitness for strenuous tasks and various weather conditions.
  • Understanding of navigation and safety procedures.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to work schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Additional inland river deckhand experience.
  • Reliable work history.
