Summary
The area's top cycling store is looking for one highly motivated and skilled, experienced Bicycle Technician. A passion for cycling, knowledge of bicycle mechanics and bicycle parts, and a proactive and problem solving attitude are qualities at the top of our list!
In this job you will
- Assemble and prepare bikes for sale.
- Perform a variety of service functions on new and used bikes.
- Provide one of a kind customer service through direct and detailed interaction with customers.
- Handle warranty claims and solve other complex problems.

Requires three or more years of increasingly responsible full-time work experience in a top-level bicycle shop.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Apply shop standards in the assembly and repair of all types of bicycles and related products.
- Perform quality control on the completed work of other technicians; teach or coach as necessary.
- Meet or exceed shop production standards.
- Complete paperwork accurately and fully (record parts used, work performed and complete pricing of job ticket) and process to next status or location.
- Record and report any deficiencies not addressed by the repair work being done to the customer and/or to the appropriate leader.
- Assist customer in the sale or repair process by sharing product and technical knowledge as appropriate.
- Operate cash register as necessary.
- Report or record replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the General Manager.
- Maintain shop cleanliness including bench and common workspace.
- Assemble, tune and test ride new bicycles.
- Install, repair, and replace components and accessories, from cranksets to spokes to saddles and lighting systems.
- True wheels radially, laterally and to spoke tension specifications.
- Install and adjust brakes and brake pads on rim brakes and disc brakes. Install and bleed hydraulic disc brake systems.
- Adjust, repair and rebuild bicycle suspension components.
- Evaluate, adjust and replace drivetrain components such as chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters.
- Replace or install tires, tubes, tire liners and tubeless tire systems of all kinds.
- Clean and lubricate bicycle parts.
- Other duties as needed/ assigned.
Requirements
In all candidates, we're looking for:
- Three or more years' experience working as a technician/mechanic in a top-level bicycle shop
- Skill at building, maintaining and repairing modern and older bikes, including electric-assisted bicycles (e-bikes)
- Excellent reference/s from previous employer/s
- Interest in working in a team environment committed to providing excellent sales and service experience while increasing sales through service
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to use Point of Sale, timekeeping, scheduling and other common business software on networked computers.
- Ability to maintain open and positive relations with employees and customers
- Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
- Ability to periodically lift 40 pounds
Nice To Haves
The best candidates will also have:
- Personal experience riding bikes: commuting, family, road racing, mountain biking, gravel, long-distance touring, etc (depth of experience in at least two of these)
- Experience riding, building and servicing electric-assist bicycles (e-bikes)
- Experience rebuilding and tuning bicycle suspension systems
- Experience servicing hydraulic brake systems
- Experience installing, servicing and troubleshooting electronic shifting systems
- Advanced product and service training from major manufacturers including Sram, Shimano, Bosch and Specialized
- Management experience in a busy, successful bicycle store
