Job summary

Summit Public Schools seeks Expeditions Instructional Assistants to support middle and high school students in self-directed Expeditions experiences in California. Responsibilities include in-person mentoring, supervising virtual and on-site learning, and collaboration with the Dean of Expeditions.

You may also serve as a site-based substitute when not actively supporting Expeditions, with distance learning support and community engagement as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required to enable substitute certification.
• Experience working with or teaching youth is preferred but not required.
• Must be flexible, curious, persistent, and committed to student success.

Responsibilities

• Serve as in-person proctor and mentor for Expedition students.
• Supervise virtual, independent, and student-led group learning.
• Track attendance and intervene to address absences.
• Maintain a safe, structured learning environment and positive classroom routines.
• Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress to families and teachers.
• Assist with substitute teaching duties and support Expeditions as needed.
