Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an Associate Expat Tax Manager to oversee U.S. expatriate tax returns, planning, and audit representation for a global client base via a virtual platform.

You will coach and lead a team of tax preparers, ensure timely delivery of accurate returns, and drive revenue against targets while expanding client relationships in devoted countries. Remote work supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
• Ability to communicate tax and financial advice clearly and effectively with the public in a variety of situations including but not limited to public speaking engagements
• Ability to manage work and lead people remotely using virtual business and collaboration tools
• Circular 230 credentials (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or willing to obtain within one year of employment
• Demonstrated effective leadership skills with a sincere desire to help others achieve success
• Effective time management skills: the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment?
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills through remote serviec offerings
• Proficiency in reviewing data-related reports and driving informed actions with the team
• 5 years of experience in tax preparation and/or tax research

Responsibilities

• Manage a book of business for U.S. expatriate clients
• Conduct new client interviews and analyze international tax issues for preparing returns
• Follow internal guidelines for review and referral of tax returns
• Develop client acquisition plans
• Participate in hiring decisions for non-signing tax preparers
• Review and provide feedback on work and conduct performance evaluations
• Manage overall tax preparation workflow to meet timelines and service quality
• Research tax positions for dedicated countries with regional leadership
• Prepare returns for new clients or complex issues when needed
• Provide tax research support for complex issues
• Attend training and ongoing continuing education
• Develop knowledge of foreign tax and financial systems to enhance client experience
• Assist in transitioning acquired clients to HR Block Expat Tax Services
• Develop or leverage global experience to build rapport with clients
• Handle IRS audit engagements for clients in dedicated region
• Other duties as assigned
