Job summary

Long Beach Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Aide in Expanded Learning to support before/after school programs and TK/K routines. This role offers part-time and substitute opportunities, typically 3.8 hours daily and 19 hours weekly for about 10 months.

The position involves helping plan activities, monitoring students, promoting safe behavior, and coordinating with families. Training and first aid may be provided.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• College-level coursework in early childhood education, social sciences, recreation, child development or a closely related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs (ELO-P) to meet individual student needs.
• Monitor students in program activities such as games, songs, crafts, snack and meal times, homework, and daily routines.
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment and promote positive attitudes and social growth.
• Enforce discipline with positive strategies and assist with program setup, equipment, and supplies.
• Communicate with District staff, students, families, and others to exchange information and resolve issues.
