Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant to support chairside assisting, restorative procedures, radiography, infection control, and patient education. The role focuses on delivering culturally respectful care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities in alignment with federal standards.

The position requires compliance with real-ID and federal background checks; candidates must meet radiology credentialing requirements and be prepared to pass

Qualifications

• Experience and/or education showing chairside and restorative work.
• Full 4-year program in dental assisting or dental hygiene with radiation physics coursework.
• Combination of Education and Experience meets all qualification requirements.
• GS-06 requires advanced duties such as restorations, x-rays, coronal polishing, and sealant application.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs for instruments and materials.
• Performs intra-oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, temporary fillings, and crowns.
• Performs radiographic procedures and dental laboratory tasks such as pouring models and mounting casts.
• Receives and prepares patients for treatments and maintains records.
