Qualifications

• GS‑05 requires 1 year of specialized experience or education in dental assisting.
• Education must include a full 4‑year course of study in dental assistant or dental hygiene with at least 24 semester hours in radiation physics and related courses.
• Combination of Education and Experience: meets 100% of qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs for instruments and supplies.
• Performs intra‑oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, and temporary/consolidated restorations.
• Performs radiological and dental laboratory procedures including models, trays, bite rims, casts, and impressions.
• Receives and prepares patients and maintains treatment records.
