Qualifications

• GS-05 requires 1 year specialized experience or equivalent to GS-04 with chairside and radiography duties.
• Complete a full 4-year dental assistant or hygiene program with at least 24 semester hours in radiation physics.
• Education/Experience combination meets 100% of qualification requirements.
• GS-06 requires 1 year specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 in restorative functions and radiography.
• Must hold a current radiological health and safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs for instruments and materials.
• Performs intra-oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, temporary fillings, and cementing crowns.
• Performs radiological procedures and dental lab work: pours/trims models, fabricates trays/bite rims, mounts casts, pours final impressions.
• Receives and prepares patients for treatments; maintains appointment, examination, and supply records.
