Job summary

Salt Lake County's Planetarium is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to ensure exhibits remain functional. You will maintain and upgrade exhibit hardware, troubleshoot electronics, solder when needed, and assist with exhibit builds.

Ideal candidates have a practical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, basic computer operations, and the ability to work in a shop using common tools. This is a temporary, part-time position with variable hours.

Qualifications

• Good practical understanding of physical, mechanical and electrical concepts.
• Knowledge of electronics, soldering and circuit assembly a plus.
• Basic electrical principles, construction practices and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Build and construct exhibits for public use in the Planetarium building.
• Work with exhibit technicians to organize and prioritize work to keep exhibits operational.
• Solve problems with exhibits as they arise to keep exhibits operational.
• Builds/integrates needed hardware, maintains inventory and supports exhibit sales.
