Salt Lake County's Planetarium seeks a hands-on technician to maintain and repair public exhibits, ensuring reliable operation of projectors, computers, and exhibit hardware. You will perform upgrades and routine servicing to keep displays engaging and functional.
Collaborating with exhibit technicians, you will build and integrate needed hardware, maintain inventory, and support exhibit sales. The role requires climbing ladders, working in a shop, and using a variety of tools.
Works to ensure that exhibits are functional for the public by maintaining equipment, servicing exhibit hardware, computer hardware, regularly vacuuming projectors, computers, etc. Uses a variety of tools and critical thinking skills to provide repairs/upgrades to existing equipment.
Must possess a good practical understanding of physical, mechanical, and electrical concepts in simple and complex systems. Knowledge of electronics, soldering and circuit assembly a plus.
Must be able to climb ladders, crouch, sit, squat and be in uncomfortable positions using a variety of tools for extended periods. Must be able to work in a shop using relevant tools.
