Job summary

Salt Lake County's Planetarium seeks a hands-on technician to maintain and repair public exhibits, ensuring reliable operation of projectors, computers, and exhibit hardware. You will perform upgrades and routine servicing to keep displays engaging and functional.

Collaborating with exhibit technicians, you will build and integrate needed hardware, maintain inventory, and support exhibit sales. The role requires climbing ladders, working in a shop, and using a variety of tools.

Qualifications

• Good practical understanding of physical, mechanical, and electrical concepts.
• Knowledge of electronics, soldering and circuit assembly is a plus.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in a shop using various tools.
• Basic computer operations and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and construct exhibits for public use in the Planetarium building.
• Work with exhibit technicians to organize and prioritize work to keep exhibits operational.
• Diagnose problems with exhibits to keep displays functioning.
• Build/integrate needed hardware, maintain inventory and support exhibit sales.
