Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support project development for gallery-based projects.

Job description

The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) seeks an Exhibit Coordinator to support the organization as it continues to build a robust exhibit schedule following capital updates and expansion of gallery spaces. The Exhibit Coordinator, reporting to the Exhibits Manager, will work cross‑departmentally supporting JMM staff in exhibit development and execution.

Main responsibilities
  • Support project development for gallery‑based projects, including maintaining schedules, attending team meetings, articulating project goals and strategy briefs, and general administrative tasks.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of JMM galleries across the campus, taking an active role in the gallery preparations between exhibits and maintenance throughout the run of staged shows.
  • Provide support for internal and external exhibit curators, most typically the latter.
  • Assist in the development, production and installation of exhibit graphic elements.
  • Assist in the asset procurement process, including image, film, and audio.
  • Assist in loan processes, working with both institutions and private individuals.

  • Occasional Sunday and evening hours are required.
What we offer
  • Hourly rate of $29.00 for a part‑time position based on a sixteen‑hour work week.
  • Work schedules are developed in collaboration with supervisors within the Museum’s business hours.
  • Part‑time schedules are typically three or four days per week.
  • 48 hours of vacation (representing three standard work weeks) and 28 hours of sick time (representing 1.75 standard work weeks) per year.
  • Vacation and sick time are only to be applied toward established work schedules.
  • JMM staff are unionized within Teamsters Local 355 and this is a bargaining unit position.
  • JMM closes the Museum for certain Jewish holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first two days of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah, Shavuot, and the first and last two days of Passover) as well as New Years Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and the day following Thanksgiving.
