Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the operating room team before, during, and after procedures. You will prepare equipment, maintain sterile fields, and support the surgeon with draping, gowning, and instrument handoffs.

The role emphasizes counts, tissue handling, and dressing application, with opportunities to work closely with RNs in a fast-paced surgical suite.

Qualifications

• Experience in an operating room environment or sterile supply is preferred.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment and instruments on the back table and Mayo stand using sterile technique.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and other required counts with the circulating RN.
• Assists the surgeon with gowning and gloving, draping, and providing supplies and instruments.
• Cuts suture material, retracts tissue, and sponges tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies throughout the procedure.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures, as appropriate.
• Assists as a second circulator in the operating room, as directed by the circulating RN.
• Picks surgical cases and updates preference cards.
