Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team before, during, and after surgery with sterile technique and timely supply management. This role helps prepare instruments, assists with gowning, draping, and supplying the team throughout procedures.

You will maintain a sterile field, assist with Counts, and apply dressings post-operatively, contributing to patient safety and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or equivalent required.
• Licensure/certification: Medical Tech Registration.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment and instruments on the back table and Mayo stand using sterile technique.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and other required counts with the circulating RN.
• Assists the surgeon with gowning and gloving, draping, and providing supplies and instruments.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies throughout the procedure.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures, as appropriate.
• Assists as a second circulator in the operating room, as directed by the circulating RN.
• Picks surgical cases and updates preference cards.

Major Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon with: Gowning and gloving Draping Providing supplies and instruments throughout surgical procedures Cuts suture material, retracts tissue, and sponges tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies throughout the procedure.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures, as appropriate.
• Adheres to universal precautions when: Removing draping materials Handling and containing instruments and equipment Managing linen and disposable items Assists as a second circulator in the operating room, as directed by the circulating RN.
• Picks surgical cases and updates preference cards.

Education

Post Secondary Education or equivalent - Years of Experience - License and Certification Medical Tech Registration CPR certified within 90 days of hire

Pay Range

$33.50 - $49.78

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.

Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.

Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
