Job summary

MS Transverse seeks a VP, Property and First Party Lines to lead enterprise underwriting governance, authority, and strategy. The role works with the Corporate CUO office and executive leadership to align risk appetite, portfolio performance, and line-of-business direction.

The senior leader will design LOA frameworks, oversee E&S and admitted channels, and drive CAT management, pricing models, and underwriting audits across Property and First Party products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive underwriting experience in Commercial Property, Specialty Property, and/or First Party lines.
• 7+ years in a leadership role with enterprise-wide or portfolio-level responsibility.
• Experience building or materially reshaping a corporate underwriting function.
• Hands-on carrier–MGA relationships experience (carrier underwriting authority and MGA/MGU operations).
• Underwriting authority across admitted and E&S markets; proficiency with CAT modeling; knowledge of property reinsurance structures and alternative market models.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the top underwriting authority on all Property and first party lines (Commercial Property, Inland Marine, Builder's Risk, DIC, Ocean Marine cargo, Equipment Breakdown).
• Adjudicate complex, non-standard risks and provide binding technical opinions on coverage, policy language, and endorsements.
• Develop, publish, and maintain corporate underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, class eligibility, and policy forms; govern forms libraries and rating rules matrices.
• Represent the company’s technical underwriting position with MGA/MGU partners, senior brokers, cedents, and reinsurers.
• Design and maintain LOA delegation templates and a tiered authority framework for Property and First Party products; define referral thresholds and prohibited classes.
• Set and enforce CAT accumulation limits, monitor PML, AAL, and TVaR metrics; lead rate and form filings for admitted vs. E&S and manage collaboration with Risk, Actuarial, and Compliance.
• Lead the MGA/MGU Underwriting Audit Program and internal UQA processes; report results to executive leadership quarterly.
