Job summary

AVL Technologies in Asheville, NC seeks a Vice President of Engineering to lead engineering execution across our satellite communications product portfolio. You will shape strategy for new product development, systems, RF, electrical, mechanical, software, and embedded platforms, driving design quality, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness.

The role builds a high‑performing organization, mentors leaders, and owns budgets, planning, and risk management from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership.
• 8+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Experience in SATCOM, aerospace, defense electronics, telecommunications, or related industries.
• Experience taking products from concept to production and deployment.
• Lean Six Sigma or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering execution across all disciplines (systems, RF, electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, test, quality).
• Set priorities, budgets, roadmaps, and performance metrics for the engineering organization.
• Drive innovation, improve manufacturability, reliability, and cost competitiveness of products.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to meet business objectives.
