Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Analyst, Executive Underwriting Priorities in Annapolis, MD to provide analytical and operational support to Caremark Underwriting leadership. You will research drivers of change in pricing, validate data, and collaborate with stakeholders to enable informed decisions.

The role emphasizes Excel proficiency, SQL data skills, and the ability to handle large datasets in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant professional experience in analytics, finance, underwriting, actuarial, forecasting, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and structured modeling (INDEX/MATCH or XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, error checking, reconciliation techniques).
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL concepts for data extraction, validation, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a broad range of ad hoc requests by gathering facts, performing targeted analyses, and producing clear, concise readouts for leadership and business partners.
• Perform diagnostic reviews to explain changes in results across pricing and forecasting tools/models, including identification of key drivers, input changes, data shifts, and methodology impacts.
• Partner with stakeholders across the underwriting ecosystem (e.g., modeling/tool owners, data teams, finance partners, and subject matter experts) to obtain answers, trace data lineage, and confirm appropriate interpretation of results.
• Build and maintain “side” analyses (primarily in Excel) to validate assumptions, reconcile outputs, quantify impacts, and support leadership decision needs.
• Work with structured datasets and support extraction/validation of inputs and outputs using relational data concepts and SQL (hands‑on query writing and/or leveraging standard tools and resources).
• Maintain organized notes, assumptions, and reference materials to reduce rework, improve repeatability, and ensure questions are not re‑opened without new information.
• Prepare meeting briefs (what changed, why it matters, what decisions are needed), capture action items, and—when needed—represent leadership in lower‑priority meetings to capture key takeaways and follow‑ups.
• Identify opportunities to streamline recurring requests, improve clarity of outputs, and enhance reliability of analysis through better templates, tracking, and documentation practices.
