This position will ideally be located in our Little Rock, AR office with a hybrid work schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote). We are also open to considering a remote role for candidates in Arkansas (outside of a commutable distance to Little Rock) or Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

As a Sr Commercial Lines Underwriter , you will be responsible for managing and growing your assigned book of business and acquiring new business. Your tasks

• Evaluating the acceptability of risks and determining terms, conditions, and pricing to meet profit objectives.
• Building productive relationships with agents / brokers and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.
• Serving in a leadership role by mentoring less experienced underwriters.

• Underwrite new and renewal business, reviewing applications, requesting additional info, and making accept / reject decisions within authority limits.
• Maintain appropriate loss ratios and achieve production goals.
• Develop relationships with agents / brokers and travel within the territory for customer development.
• Participate in industry and company-sponsored educational courses.
• Assist in training staff and serve as a liaison for line updates.
• Bachelors degree in insurance or related field and / or at least 7 years of commercial lines management or marketing experience, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven ability to develop profitable commercial lines business.
• Strong analytical, communication, and mathematical skills.
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.
