Job summary

S27a is seeking an Executive Technical Consultant to drive change and engineering effectiveness at mid- to large-sized engineering organizations. You will own end-to-end Uplevel engagements, merging technical proficiency with executive storytelling to deliver high-impact outcomes.

You will coach engineers and leaders, shape strategic deliverables and business cases, extract data-driven insights, and translate them into actionable roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing technical change with engineering teams.
• Deep hands-on experience in engineering leadership.
• Expertise in platform engineering, DevOps practices, and scaling engineering organizations.
• Strong perspective with proven results on how engineering should be done from a technical perspective, especially in an agentic framework.
• Experience coaching and mentoring teams and executives.
• Demonstrated ability to build executive-grade presentations and business cases from technical and operational data.
• Expertise in data analysis: capability to interpret platform metrics and survey data to reveal the underlying narrative, specifically discerning what may be concealed or misrepresented, knowing what data to emphasize and what signals are noise.
• Proven ability to hold senior client relationships independently.
• Self-directed work style: you can take an engagement context and drive it forward without needing the problem restated or the deliverable scoped for you.
• Genuine interest in the detective work of organizational assessment.
• Collaborative approach to methodology refinement.

Responsibilities

• Manage the change motion in each engagement — serve as the leader and guide for clients at every stage.
• Drive technical depth with opinionated recommendations — transform findings into concrete roadmaps and actionable responses.
• Coach teams and leaders — educate, empower, and motivate engineering teams to use data to drive change and build capabilities.
• Advance our methodology — integrate feedback from engagements to sharpen assessment frameworks and data collection.
• Build thought leadership — develop engineering-focused content and provide a strong perspective on AI-enabled work.
• Extract and tell compelling data stories — synthesize surveys, interviews, delivery patterns, and metrics into executive narratives.
• Feed findings into the product — translate customer pain points into actionable product feedback and hypotheses.
