The Department of Social Services (DSS) comprises the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA aims to combat poverty and income inequality by providing essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS focuses on preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City through innovative strategies to help families and individuals exit shelters and regain self-sufficiency.
Under the general supervision of the Senior Advisor to the COO, the Executive Support Administrator performs high-level analytical, administrative, and operational tasks to oversee critical agency functions, including General Support Services, Office of Police Operations, DSS Emergency Management, and the Emergency Food and Nutrition Assistance Program. The role involves project coordination, data analysis, internal reporting, and performance monitoring to ensure effective implementation of agency initiatives.
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in relevant fields with at least one year of professional experience, a bachelor's degree with three years of experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Specific fields include economics, finance, public administration, law, and related areas.
This position is open to qualified individuals through the 55-a Program and may qualify for federal and state loan forgiveness programs. Residency in New York City is generally required within 90 days of appointment, with options for certain employees to reside in nearby counties.
