Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education, a Compass Group USA company, is seeking a Sous Chef I to support the food program and culinary operations across our campuses. You will help plan, order, inventory, and prepare food while upholding health regulations and the client’s standards.

This role requires 5 years of culinary experience with at least 1 year in management, strong cost controls, menu planning, and leadership to train back-of-house teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of culinary experience, including 1 year in a management role.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military or health care food service.
• Knowledge of quality, production, sanitation, safety and food cost controls.
• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
• Supervisory and coaching skills; ServSafe or Health Department certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordinating and cooking a variety of food items.
• Helps plan and create menus.
• Rolls out new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams.
• Manages cost controls and expenditure.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
