Job summary

Le Jardinier at MFAH in Houston seeks a dedicated Sommelier to elevate our wine program and guest experience. This role focuses on expert wine service, pairing, and guest engagement in a museum-adjacent setting.

Under the Beverage Manager and Executive Chef, you will guide wine pairings, mentor staff, manage the wine list and cellar, and deliver knowledgeable, attentive service in a vibrant environment that values hospitality and quality.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of restaurant experience.
• Organized with strong communication skills.
• English reading and speaking ability required.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Food Handlers Safety Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the ambassador of the restaurant’s cuisine and culture.
• Collaborate with Beverage Manager and Executive Chef on wine pairings.
• Assist FOH team with wine recommendations and service.
• Provide attentive table service and wine knowledge to guests.
• Mentor staff’s wine knowledge and manage wine program training.
• Oversee wine list, cellar, inventories, and cost controls.
